Srisailam is at a distance of 150 to 160 km from Nandyala, Markapur and Kurnool of Kurnool District in Andhra Pradesh. There are bus facilities from the other cities and also from other states. The nearest railway stations are Nandyal, Kurnool and Markapur Road. Pilgrims have to travel by bus or Taxi from the Railway stations to reach Srisailam. Communal wise Choultries are available for free food and accommodation. Online booking accommodation in Temple and free meals are available at Srisailam. There is free bus facility available to pilgrims for sightseeing of other temples.

Mallikarjuna Jyothirlinga is the Second among the Dwadasa Jyothirlinga. Mallikarjuna Jyothirlinga is glint on Flat land of the right peak of the Nallamala hills being called as Siridhan or Srigiri in Kurnool District. Mallikarjunga Swamy Temple of Srisailam is ancient and treated as most powerful Temple. The shrine situated on a flat top of Nallamala Hills It is on the right side of the River Krishna in Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh. This Nallamala Hills are also named as Siridhan, Srigiri.  It has been a popular Siva Kshetra for centuries and well known as the holy Siva Kshetram from years together. Bramarambha Devi, one of the 18 Sakthi Peet also gives Dharsan in the temple premises of the holly Temple complex of Mallikarjuna Temple. Mallikarjuna second among the twelve Jyothirlinga and Goddess Bhramaramba Devi the sixth among the eighteen Sakthi Peet are the presiding Deities of this Kshetram God. Srisailam is the only place where Jyothirlinga and Sakthi Peet exists one Temple complex. 

Bhramaramba Devi Sakthipeeth

The Bhramaramba Devi Temple, dedicated to Goddess Parvati and the temple complex is inside the Mallikarjuna Swamy temple itself. Bramaramba is one of the 18 Sakthi Peet. In this temple, goddess is worshiped in the form of Brahmani Shakti. The idol of the Goddess has eight arms and is wearing a silk sari. Inside the Sanctum sanctorum of the temple, there is an idol of Lopamudra, wife of saint Agastya. Sati and Siva were insulted by Daksha in the Nireeswara Yaga and  Sati started yoga which is not possible even to the Yogis moving her  five elements from their origin. Fire erupted from her grave status of body and she self immolated in the fire. It is said that neck of Sati Devi fell here when the corpse of Sati cut by Lord Vishnu with Sudarsana Chakra to stop the Thandava of Siva to prevent the earth from destruction.

Bhramaramba Devi

Srisailam called as the Kailash on the earth and named as ILA - KAILASAM. The legend Shiva Purana says that Lord Ganesh got married before Kartikeya caused angry of Kartikeya. Kartikeya went away to the Krowncha Mountain and the Gods tried to console him but in vain. Shiva and Parvati themselves travelled to the mountain and failed to convince Kartikeya. Seeing their son in such a state they feel hurt and Shiva assumed the form of a Jyotirlinga residing on the mountain as Mallikarujna. Mallika means Parvati, while Arjuna is another name of Shiva. Anointing of Mallikarjuna with honey, present pleasure in future births to the devotees’. Devotees are permitted to present Maredu leaves and to touch Siva Linga with respectable greeting by head over heels. There are many more temples and places to visit around srisailam.
